Our history

Founder, Anne Banning, began Assistance League in 1919 in Los Angeles.  Mrs. Banning felt that “it was fine to serve youth but better to let youth serve.”  She called on the daughters and granddaughters of Assistance League to assist in various philanthropic projects.  The earliest report of Assistance League youth serving their community was in 1924 when the local newspaper reported that ten society debs of the Assistance League were sewing clothes for those in need.  In 1961, all teenage Assistance League auxiliaries were given the name "Assisteens."  The name "Assisteens®" was registered in the United States Patent & Trademark Office in 1965.

Our chapter, Assisteens of Capistrano Valley, was founded on March 19,1983, with the purpose of teaching young ladies about philanthropic service and self-improvement.

Our Mission

Assisteens of Capistrano Valley volunteers to transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. As an auxiliary of Assistance League, Assisteens provides support to those in need through locally designed, organized, and actuated service.  Through ongoing philanthropic projects, Assisteens strive to develop leadership skills, commitment to community service, accountability, self-reliance, personal responsibility, poise, and public speaking skills.
